Accounting Standards Review
The Accounting Standards Review Committee fosters individual professional growth and advances the government finance profession by actively participating in the preliminary stages of accounting standards development and educating membership with information on proposed changes in governmental accounting standards.
The OGFOA Professional Finance Officer Certification Program was established in July 1984 to recognize and promote individual development. The program encourages continuing education and active participation in events and activities which improve the skills and abilities of finance professionals. Certification promotes excellence in government finance and is beneficial to finance professionals of all Oregon government entities.
Developing Professionals Group
The mission of the Developing Professionals Group is to provide a network for resources, training, support and vision for individuals who are new to the government finance sector or who may be looking to develop or expand upon their current career as a government finance professional. This group is open to any finance personnel who are in their first ten years of involvement within the field of government finance.
The Education Committee coordinates training on a variety of subjects for all OGFOA members. This is accomplished through sessions offered at the Spring Conference, Fall Institute and online webinars. The committee consists of four sub-committee: Accounting, Audit & Budget; Banking & Technology; Debt, Investments, Rates & Fees; and Management Topics. Each sub-committee focuses on issues and educational opportunities pertinent to our organization and membership.
Are you a new member to OMFOA and want to meet new people, or an established member looking for a way to participate and give back to the organization? Join the Hospitality Committee to get involved and have some fun. You can help OMFOA members feel comfortable and welcome at trainings, events and conferences by joining OMFOA’s Hospitality Committee.
“There is an emanation from the heart in genuine hospitality which cannot be described, but is immediately felt and puts the stranger at once at his or her ease.” Washington Irving
The Membership Committee is committed to growing the membership through creating, enhancing, and demonstrating the value of the OGFOA to new and existing members and building awareness of the OGFOA’s purpose of promoting professionalism and excellence in public financial management.
The Membership Committee meets in person twice each year during the OGFOA spring and fall conferences, and communicates by email periodically during the year to accomplish its various missions.
